“For me, coaching means being able to describe scenarios out loud and have them scrutinised by a neutral person. I wouldn’t necessarily do either of these things away from the coaching setting. It’s like it is in sport: trying to overcome something on your own is much more difficult and you’re likely to give up sooner. Mr Michels doesn’t ease off during his coaching, he keeps asking more questions, and I devote more time to a situation and finding a solution to it.”
